Daily Vocal Connection Practice

This is a guide to support you to create daily connection with your voice. These simple but profound practices will help you begin to build awareness and attune to your voice:

  • Set a clear intention for how you want to show up to this work. What do you want to commit to? Write it down, put it somewhere you will see every day.

  • Start each day by enjoying a morning beverage and connecting with your intention.

  • Notice throughout your day when something arises in you you want to say but are not sure how to say it or are afraid how it will be received.

  • When driving in the car alone, turn off the radio/music. Notice where your mind goes and see if you notice songs that come to you (other people’s or parts of songs that are all your own). Let sounds move through you as they want to.

  • Take walks, runs, or bike rides without headphones and see what the rhythm of your stride brings up.

  • Schedule time during your day to become aware of your jaw, neck and throat. Bring touch and sound there to let go of tension. It can be helpful to set a reminder on your phone.

  • End of day practice: Think back through your day and recall any times you felt like you needed or wanted to say something but did not. Without judging or shaming yourself for it, simply notice, write it down, and write down some other ways you could have handled the situation that would have made space for your expression
